Rebuild & Repair Nepal

AVA will need volunteers to help us rebuild homes after the April 25th earthquake that shook Nepal. To date over 8,000 people have lost their lives and over 17,800 have been injured. The United Nations estimates 2.8 million people have been displaced by the 7.8 earthquake which is the worst to hit Nepal since 1934.

AVA is now taking applications for volunteers to help rebuild & repair Nepal. The rebuilding program will start on October 1st 2015. Building before then will be difficult due to monsoon season which ends in September.

Building volunteers will be asked to donate a minimum of $450.00 US to help with building materials. We recommend you do some fundraising to pay for your entire program and we will be here to help you with this every step of the way. *This is on top of our regular volunteer fees.

Volunteers will be working side by side with locals and will live with a host family close to their work site.

If you are an engineer or construction worker or have other special skills which may be of use in this program please let us know ahead of time.

There is no age restriction for this program. Anyone under the age of 18 must have parental consent. You must provide a police record. Volunteers need to be in generally good health as you will be doing physical labor outside in the heat.

Fundraisers

If you are interested in helping rebuild Nepal but are not able to travel to Nepal and volunteer you can hold a fundraiser of your own to help with the cost of building materials. Fundraisers can be anything from a simple dinner party serving Nepali cuisine with friends and family to a big party at a community center to a casino night. Charity work always looks great on college applications and resumes.
